Hello Everyone

Following my email a couple of weeks ago, I have now setup a support group on Facebook for local families who are looking to sponsor a Ukrainian family wanting to come to the UK. There are 9 families from the Benefice church community and 4 other local families, some who attend another church and some who are not church members as far as I know. Several of these families have now linked with a Ukrainian family and it is hoped some of these families will be arriving into the area from next week onwards.

A number of people have asked me how they can get involved in supporting the ‘Homes for Ukrainians’ scheme, knowing they are unable to offer accommodation but wanting to help in other ways, e.g. by offering financial support to host families. When a family has come to the UK the government will give host families £350/month, but there may be upfront costs that a host family will have to bear, e.g. get the house ready, help a family get to the UK etc.

If want you want to offer financial assistance to host families, then a fund has been setup at St. Mary’s, Wollaston please contact us for specific details.
