Hello Everyone

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’m reading a book by John McGinley called ‘The church of tomorrow’. He gives a number of marks of the future church and I thought I’d share one each week…

The first one is that the church of tomorrow would be those people for whom ‘Jesus is Lord’. Where the “Lordship of Jesus extends over our finances, our family, our work, our play, our ambitions, our politics, our sexuality and everything in between.” So as a church we don’t allow the world’s values to set the Church’s practice and agenda. We become again a missionary church, a “creative minority”, happy to be on the margins of society, not worrying about our status or reputation, having nothing of ourselves to offer the world, instead simply sharing Jesus with people in word and deed, knowing it is Him that gives life.

The author challenges the church of today… have we reduced Jesus to a form we can manage, or which reflects the kind of Jesus we are looking for? Are we consuming the benefits of all that Jesus is on our terms and not offering Him the throne of our lives? Celebrating Jesus as Saviour but rejecting Him as Lord!?

Its good challenging stuff….

Finally attached are the weekly newsletter and traditional service,

With blessing,
